Dean Pigéon Joins FOX 8 to Share Pigéon Caterers’ Commitment to Raising Awareness and Funds for Parkinson’s

For Pigéon Catering and Events co-owner Dean Pigéon, Sr., food has always been about more than what’s on the plate. It’s about family, tradition and bringing people together, especially when it’s for a cause that hits close to home.

Parkinson’s disease is a cause that is particularly close to the Pigéon family’s heart. Dean and his brother, Jean Pierre Pigéon, co-owners of Pigéon Catering and Events, have a personal connection to the disease through their sister, Tiffany, who has been touched by Parkinson’s disease. Her journey has made supporting Parkinson’s awareness, research and those affected by the disease even more meaningful to the entire Pigéon family.

Dean recently joined FOX 8 Morning Edition to talk about Pigéon’s longtime involvement with the 13th Annual Walk for Parkinson’s, taking place Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lafreniere Park.

The annual event brings the community together to raise awareness about Parkinson’s disease and raise funds to support the cause. Over the years, Pigéon’s fundraising efforts have helped raise more than $1 million.

A Family Recipe

Of course, Dean couldn’t visit the FOX 8 kitchen without cooking.

For the segment, he prepared grillades using his mother’s recipe — a dish with deep roots in the Pigéon family and in New Orleans holiday traditions.

What once began as a family recipe producing about four gallons has grown considerably.

Come for the Walk and Stay for Lunch

The Walk for Parkinson’s is about raising awareness and funds, but it’s also about enjoying a great day together at Lafreniere Park.

This year’s event will feature 42 food and beverage vendors, including Pigéon Catering and Events. Lunch begins at 11 a.m., with plenty of food and drinks for guests to enjoy.

And while it’s called the Walk for Parkinson’s, walking is optional. Guests are welcome to participate in the walk, come out for lunch, or simply spend the day supporting the cause and the people whose lives have been affected by Parkinson’s.

Even better, children 12 and under are admitted free, making it an event the entire family can enjoy.

Raising Money. Raising Awareness. Making a Difference.

For Dean, Jean Pierre and the entire Pigéon family, participating year after year is about using what they do best, food and hospitality, to support something much bigger.

With Tiffany’s experience with Parkinson’s bringing an especially personal meaning to the cause, the family understands firsthand how deeply this disease can affect individuals and the people who love them.

Every plate served and every person who attends helps bring greater attention to Parkinson’s disease while generating funds that can make a meaningful difference.
